Arley Arboleda - Colombia

This small lot from Arley Arboleda is another excellent Chiroso from Urrao. Arley is a 36-year-old, second-generation producer growing Chiroso at 2,100 masl across two hectares. He learned coffee farming from his father as a teenager and purchased the land for Finca Los Guaicos in 2022 with the specific goal of cultivating exclusively Chiroso. As with many producers in the region, Arley uses the cochadas method, a regional processing practice in which each day’s harvest is depulped and added to the same fermentation tank throughout the week. Once the tank is full, the coffee is washed together. His coffee is everything we love about Chiroso: sparkling acidity, light florals, and deep caramel-like sweetness that give way as the cup cools to juicy tropical fruit notes of pineapple and soursop.
